Surf’s Up
The most amazing animation movie I have ever seen, totally awesome direction from Sony studio. You will get the full juice if you are a regular watcher of animation movies. The total movie is about surfing. Yeah, characters are penguin here. But, hey, it’s not a childish movie.
The whole movie is a realistic documentary of a penguin from North Pole whose dream is to become a super great surfer. In the running story camera follows him everywhere. At point to point camera is taking his mother’s and brother’s comment about him. Sometime characters are annoyed with following camera and it is also showed. Any place that camera can’t go, is what that we don’t see in the movie. Such an amazing style was applied.
Whatever, coming back to the story, that dreamy penguin need a platform, like a championship or competition. After a long wait, he get his chance. He is accepted in a championship. His board is made of ice, not actually made, it’s shaped. When he came in to the tropic island for competition, he finds difficulty in wood boards and finds the toughest challenges from such amazing surfers. In his amazing journey he finds his idol, who was lost many years ago. He finds his love. He finds his lessons. He finds his dream become true.
Yeah, there is a punk cock, who just rocks. Little foolish but a plain heart character with a rocking style, and off course he is a surfer too.
Dialogues are awesome and funny.
Artwork is excellent. Specially, I like the fragmented scenes with ‘sports channel’ effects, documentary effects, old film effect, latest publication effect etc. These are very creative for artwork direction.
Oh, I enjoyed music too.
I am giving my personal ratings.

2)Directing: 10/10
3)Artwork: 3D, 10/10
4)Characters: 10/10
